Sonnets : What are sonnet ?

Basically, Sonnets are one of the poetic forms that can be found in lyric poetry from Europe. One of the best known sonnet writers is William Shakespeare, who wrote 154 of them (not including those that appear in his plays). A Shakespearean, or English, sonnet consists of 14 lines, each line containing ten syllables and written in iambic pentameter, in which a pattern of an emphasized syllable followed by an emphasized syllable is repeated five times. The rhyme scheme in a Shakespearean sonnet is a-b-a-b, c-d-c-d, e-f-e-f, g-g; the last two lines are a rhyming couplet. We did only the first page of the worksheet.

This are some example what we did :-

If I profane with my unworthiest hand

This is my holy shrine, the gentle sin is this:

My lips, two blushing pilgrims, ready stand

To smooth that rough touch with a tender kiss

Good pilgrim, you do wrong your hand too much,
Which mannerly devotion shows in this,
For saints have hands that pilgrim's hands do touch,
And palm to palm is holy palmer's kiss
Have not saints lips, and holy palmer's too?
Ay, pilgrim, lips that they must use in prayer.
O then, dear saint, let lips do what hands do.
Then pray, grant thou, lest faith turn to despair

Saints do not move, through grant for prayer's sake.
Then move not, while my prayer's effect I take.

Oh ya! Forget to tell you guys, we had part two and it's after school. Do you guys remember the day after 10 anniversary of Evergreen? We had a day off! So we are supposed to rescheduled our lessons after school. So therefore, literature is one of the subject. Yeah!

Ah! This lesson if fun. Want to know why? We went to Movers and Shakers Gallery. Confused? I was too. What have literature got to do with our Founding Fathers? Ah! I find out that Literature have something with them. Well, noting much is done.

Juliet - Claire Danes

Mr Chua entered with Miss Malyanah! She's a trainee teacher in our class! Yeaah! New teacher teach our class. Haha. Farhan shouts ' Class stands ' . Mr Chua says ' greet us as teachers. Good Morning class. ' " Good morning teachers ! " with full of enthusiastic . Haha. New teacher in class must show Thinking is the best of all class, right? Haha. ' Bravo ! ' with speed , we get into the group we were assign and seat besides our partner. Sarah , I am your partner. Mr Chua asked us to do a mind map about the character traits. We laugh while discussing. Fun! We both will do about Juliet!

We planned and created one. This is due on Friday which is on 26th February 2010. Next we receive a letter for our parents to sign. It's about the learning logs! Surprised, I'm the top student of getting 70 %. We also get back our friendship card. To be posted to our best friend! Well, Mr Chua provides us with the envelopes and stamps. Thank You Mr Chua for that thought of yours. Few minutes to go till bell rang. I was waiting for that moment. Well, recess was next. After receiving the card and envelopes, we wrote down the address that we should sent to. Guess what? I received two cards! Haha. I mean, Sarah and Ramona wrote a card to me. Thank You guys. I love you guys so much! 5..4..3..2..1 ! Ringgg .. I gave the card and get out of the class .

p/s : Sorry Mr Chua. I was hungry so I rushed out of class. Haha. Do accept my apology okay? Thank You.

The part where I miss alot ! hmmpf ^^v

Guess what? Routine? Yup! ' GOOD MORNING MR CHUA ' he sways his hand to the ryhthm. Guess what? We learned a new story! But, its not just a story like Macbeth but this is a romantic story! Come on. Who doesn't know them? Romantic couple until today right? Yup. Receive a new story by Mr Chua. I straight away read about it. Fun but, I didn't understand. '_______' "

So, Mr Chua explained in detail with the video of this one couple who doesn't know each other at first but meet and fell in love at their first sight. WOW! We watch the video while holding worksheets that was printed for us to complete. Basically the worksheet involve the four character Romeo, Juliet, Tybalt and Lord Capulet. Lord Capulet was actually an enemy of Romeo's family. Oh My God? Then how? Hmm. Well, Tybalt wanted to proceed and chase Romeo out but Lord Capulet reject his permission. Good man he is! Then Romeo started to get close to Juliet. Until they dance together and talk while not knowing each other. But Romeo tarted the conversation by telling Juliet that she was a beautiful lady.

They continued dancing until the music stops. In the process of dancing, they talk non-stop to each other. Oh, how great is that? The video end and we were arranged according to our index numbers. 1-10 :- They'll do on Romeo. 11-20 : - They had to do on Juliet. 21-30 :- They had to do on Tybalt and last but not least 31-42 :- Lord Capulet. I will do on Juliet as my index number is 17. ' BRAVO ! '

we get into partners. My partner is Sarah as she is my NEWB! Haha. We had to analyse the homework with our partner. Just wanting to watch the romance part which is the power of lips to lips, KISS , the bell rang! Sad okay? But never mind. I will just be waiting for this coming Friday!

scene in the courtroom - Characters are labeled.

Basically, we greeted our most welcomed Mr Chua. ' GOOD MORNING MR CHUA ' his hands swayed to the rhythm. It's normal. Sometimes, we followed him. Haha. Just telling Mr Chua frankly about it. But not to worry, it's one in a million kind of style. I like your style! Haha.

Let's get down to classroom scene. Scene? Yup! Basically, we learned about scenes about Portia and Shylock in the court. Of course , it Merchant of Vernice(MoV). And the scene goes like this .

Portia : Shylock, you have been offered three times the money ...

Shylock : My oath! My oath! I have vowed an oath to heaven! Shall my soul be guilty of perjury No, not for Vernice itself.

Portia : Well, this bond is forfeit. By this, Jew may lawfully claim a pound of flesh, to be cut out by him nearest to the merchant's heart. Be merciful. Take three times the money. Tell me to tear up the bond.

Shylock : Only when it is paid according to the agreement. You seem to be a worthy judge. You know the law. Your interpretation was very sound. I demand in the name of law, of which you are a well-deserving pillar, proceed to judgement. I swear upon my soul that no man has the power to persuade me otherwise. I'll have my bond!

If the writing is in italic, that would be my answer to each question.

Basically, as a routine, there will be work given. In the worksheet itself, question were given :-

1. Do you think Shylock is right to demand to murder Antonio? Explain yourself clearly.

Yes. They did an agreement that is stated that if the amount is not paid at the duration given, Shylock have the right to demand for his bond but he can't murder Antonio. He can just take a pound of flash.

2. Shylock has sworn both to heaven and his own soul to cut a pound of flesh from Antonio's body. Give one possible reason why he would do so.

He hated Antonio. So, with asking his bond, he can avenge to Antonio.

3. Is Shylock the hero or the villain of the story? Explain.

Shylock is the villain of the story. Even though they had made the bond, Bassanio offered him to take three times the money but Shylock refuses. He still wanted to have his bond. Even Portia asked Shylock to be merciful but Shylock still wants his bond.

So ya. That's basically what the first worksheet is all about. From that paragraph above, I learned to be merciful. I can't really promised but I try to be one. Haha. Not to worry, there are still more. We received the second worksheet. It's state ' In an earlier scene, Shylock says the following when looking at Antonio : ' Hmm. Guess you should know. Both are enemies, so, they talk bad about each other religion. '_______' " . Please to those out there. Don't ever play with other religion. You an get into big FIGHT like the upcoming scene. But sadly, Bell rang! Phew! Guess, it's homework. Today class was interesting. I can't wait for the hectic days ahead! :DD

Basically, there's lesson to learned. Pleased don't ever tease other religion. It can made up into BIG FIGHT ! Come on. We are multi-racial right? It's a very sensitive case. So please, Don't! Anyway, no lesson was help due to 10th anniversary of EVERGREEN SECONDARY SCHOOL ! I took part so basically, didn't know much. And, as a performer, I try to think about the religion kinda thing. It really applies. I made a great bond with Chinese dancers, Gems actors and actresses, much more. So see that? Respecting other religion is important. Nope! Very IMPORTANT ! :PP

Hidayah and me

Friendship is all about faning each other.

That's what friendship is all about.

Well, basically the class routine . We make noise! Some of the boys spys on the corridor to watch whether Mr Chua enters our class. " Eh, Mr Chua. Mr Chua. Quiet all of you. Shh! " . Heard from the boys. We thought they were kidding but it turned out to be right. All of us silent ourselves. ' That is why Mr Chua, when you entered we silent. Haha.'(in my heart) .

Lets get down to business. We greeted Mr Chua with his hands swaying to the rythm. Cool! :PP He set up his laptop and started with no time wasted. We tought it was about the Shakesphere text again but nope! About FRIENDSHIP. Well as you know, International Friendship Day is just around the corner. He gave us a text. Guess what? It was about Bassanio and Antonio strong friendship! They do have a very trong friendship. Antonio sacrifised his blood for Bassanio to just loan some money. How strong is that? Must be really strong. Then, we learned the qualities about friendship. Loyalty and integrity is important in friendship. No backstabbing each other is also very important. Loyalty is an important key for me as without loyalty, your friends could backstab you anytime, anywhere! Imagine will it be heartbreaking? Yes, of course!

Although in that friendship there is weird and bitter part of it, just forgive and forget then. That will lead to a happy friendship days. During happy times, makes it a memorable day to remember until we enters our graves. Enjoy that point of time. Sacrifise atleast a time for a friend to share their problem. That will lead to a strong friendship.

I do have a story back then. I was in primary school. I have a lot of friends but not sure who to trust. I was confused. This side asked not to friend that side. That side asked not to friend this side. Words were flying around me. Confused was the atmosphere that point of time. Both were my good friends! I counld'nt backstab any of them. Erm, but a friend of mine approaches me and says that its fine to choose none then having friends that gives negative comments always. I think about what she says. I guess the words told by her was right. None I choose to listen. It's hard but life had to go on. That point of time, I know who was that 'friend' who can be mine forever. It was her! By the name of Nadiah. She was always by my side when I needs her.

Guess what? Until now we contacted each other although she's living in Pasir Ris. There must be assignment for us to do. And it's about decorating a small card to give it to our bestfriend. Thought of giving it to Nadiah but, I don't know her address. So, I wrote it to a friend named Ramona. We were like twins. We both look alike. We both knew each other when I had a fight with her primary school mate. Not knowing that she was going to be my secondary school mate. We known each other since 12 years old. What a small world! Haha :DD Mr Chua says that he is going to get us stamps and post it to the named friend. Fun! I was wandering who will post it to me. Hmmm? Just hope for the best. The assignment must be given next lesson. Hope to get it done within the time given. Haha :DP
